Family, Money, and Meaning in Retirement with Deborah Grayson Riegel and Sophie Riegel (Ep. 8)

Family, Money, and Meaning in Retirement with Deborah Grayson Riegel and Sophie Riegel (Ep. 8)

Money decisions later in life often reach far beyond a balance sheet. They can shape family relationships, independence, shared experiences, and the way parents and adult children talk about the future.

In this episode,  Jesse Lunin-Pack, CFP®, continues his conversation with leadership communication expert and executive coach Deborah Grayson Riegel and speaker, ICF-certified coach, and entrepreneur Sophie Riegel. Together, they explore family money conversations, financial independence, spending on meaningful experiences, supporting adult children, aging family relationships, and the ongoing work required to stay connected through life’s transitions.

Deborah and Sophie discuss:

  • How open family money conversations can feel vulnerable even when there isn’t conflict or disagreement
  • Why spending money on meaningful experiences can become part of a family’s approach to wealth and giving
  • How financial independence can change the relationship between parents and their adult children
  • Why family relationships require communication, feedback, boundaries, and consistent effort over time
  • How parents can model work-life balance, intentional choices, and healthy relationships for their children
  • And more!
